My name is Cameron Dunn and this is a locksport and lock picking focused channel. I will teach you basic lock picking principles, review lock picking tools, and of course pick locks. Some locks will be the same ones you could find in your local hardware store and others will have been modified by other pickers.
I started picking locks when I realized I no longer had any hobbies and needed a way to unwind. Picking locks is very therapeutic and has allowed me to help several friends out when they locked themselves out.
This channel is for anyone who wants to learn about locksport or is considering picking it up as a hobby. Subscribe to follow me on my journey!
Please pick responsibly.

These locks are hit and miss on security pins. Some have 1 barrel T pin. Others, a serrated. But usually not more than 1 or `2 security pins at best that Ive seen.
Got this same lock worked first try now I can't seem to get it.
Some locks are like that, I only consider a lock truly picked if I've picked it more than once. Sometimes you just get lucky.
I have one that was no longer in use at work. Easily got it with a city rake, quint rake also worked. I even got it once sort of by accident with zipping but have been unable to single pin pick this
Nice
Wow really old video but im just getting into lock picking and so far ive picked 3 locks, this is the one ive been stuck on for several days now and i cant seem to get it, i respect the skill
Welcome to the hobby! This is definitely an interesting model to pick, if you get stuck put it away, pick some easier locks and come back to it. Thanks for watching!
I was messing with one and having a hard time getting it open.
It seems that Master Lock DG has a few variants. I have 2 and they only have 6 rivets (4 visible on the keyway end), not the 8 as shown in your video. BosnianBill picked a variant which had a much larger shackle than yours or mine
I didn't realize that, thanks for sharing!
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Picked and gutted?
Oops, I was so used to always picking and gutting challenge locks and I didn't think to change my video naming template. Good catch!
They didn't work because you put the tension wrench backwards. I the rake goes in the bottom narrow end of the lock.
lol you have much to learn
Hope all is well with you m8, not seen you on, happy new year.
I'm doing well, just taking a break from locksport to focus on family.
Working on a Sunday in the marine corp. decided to pass some time and try to pick one we had laying around lol
Literally locked out of one of my own lockers.... gotta love the internet
Thank you! I had an old piece of electronics with a similar lock securing a hard drive. Your straw method took me about 1 min to unlock. Then I discovered the equipment would not function without locking the hard drive back in place. With a fresh straw in hand, I was able to relock it in about a minute. Stupid lock! No reason for it to be in this equipment anyway! I saw replacement keys online for $25 plus $10 shipping. You save me some bucks. Thank you again!!
I just used this for my lockbox that we couldn’t find the key after moving. I was shocked it worked so easily!
The US Army buys those things in Bulk. Dam things hate being in the whether. Never tried to pick one of em though. I have used bolt cutters on 100's of them over the last 2 decades.
Wowza! What a lock! Good job
I definitely agree with the premise here, although one could certainly argue that there is a practical application to the skills gained from practicing and being able to pick locks (albeit a skill that may be used very seldom if ever in a real world scenario). But the skill itself certainly has value, and I’d look at the money spent on locks as the tuition you paid to earn that skill. A knife has practical application the moment you take it out of its box, little to no learning curve, and is something that can be used everyday. So yes, I’m with you on this 100%, lol. Great video Cameron, thanks for sharing!
Funny how RUclips recommended this video so long after you posted, but especially when I got back into buying knives. Last knife I bought was a ZT0462 myself. Before that a Spyderco Karahawk, and the ZT0460! Still never had a Benchmade yet.
Nice! I've always loved the looks of the ZT0450, but I'm terrible at using frame locks. Benchmades are nice, but I personally feel like they're overpriced. I've been getting into fixed blades recently, those are a lot of fun. Knives have kind of become my new hobby, they don't take as much time as lockpicking. I still love lockpicking, but life gets busy.
Check out some of my picks
Nice those locks are sweet
I know I am late to the game here, but we have these on our toolboxes at work. They contain serrated pins. I find that some are easy to pick while some seem almost impossible. Master locks are hit and miss at best with their quality. I work on UH-60 helicopters at a well known Army training post. Yes the Mil uses these locks. These locks and the American locks are all over the place. Are these locks the best money can buy? Of course not. But when you realize the actual amount of locks the US Mil uses money comes into play and at some point resource management has to come into play here. There just aren't that many people picking locks on a military base. Bolt cutters and the like are a much more realistic threat when it comes to locked equipment. And when did serrated and spool pins ever slow down an accomplished picker anyway ;) Good video! And enjoy your lock sir! If you decide to put it into service I promise it will last you a long time.
Thanks for your input!
There is no key bitting, that's not a lock by definition, it's an opening catch 😂
It's probably the worst lock I've ever encountered, I'm just glad I didn't pay very much for it.
It would be really nice to see a fallow up video to this one and to see you try the rest of the picks
Great shout out. Congrats on your 2nd daughter, just became a first time Grandpa 6 weeks ago.
They must have been born around the same time then, my daughter turned six weeks old on Sunday. Thanks for watching Jim!
New subscriber. Congrats on the new arrival. I have 2 girls myself, 2 and 5. Enjoy it all you can it goes so fast.
Thanks for the sub! Kids are a lot of fun, but I don't post as many videos as I used to.
@@CameronDunn thanks for the sub as well. Yeah, I wasn't sure about starting a channel because i didn't know if i would be able to post regularly as my girls like to hang out in my lock lab, but my 5 year old is sort of into picking. I even made her her own lock to pick and she has opened it a few times. I love when she comes in and says "daddy can i pick my lock". hopefully she stays interested.
That's awesome, it's a useful skill to have! Hopefully my daughters are interested when they're older too. Everyone in this community has been really supportive of me taking time away to be with my family. I do hope to get back to regular postings though, it's still a fun and therapeutic hobby.
@@CameronDunn for sure. Family is very important and I think we all understand that.
Congratulations on the little one, it's so cool bro
Thanks Thumper!
Very nice shout out my friend, Congrats on the new baby.
Thanks Bearsback!
Thank you for the shout out. Congratulations on the 2nd baby.
Thanks BiMon! I look forward to watching your channel grow.
Great shoutout!!! Congratulations on your second child!!!!!👍👍👍👍 😀😀👍🐈👏👏🐈🐾
Thanks Chris! Newborns are fun.
Great to see you pick again. And nice shout out. Congratulations again on the newest member of your family.
Thanks AJ!
Nice shout out. Bimon has been around without videos glad they started
They recently subscribed to my channel, that's awesome that they used to be a passive member of the community and now are starting to make videos.
A massive congratulations Cameron to you & your wife. Great shout out of BiMon I’ve just subscribed. 👍
Thanks Daz! It's been hectic but fun.
And Congrats on your second...
Thanks JM!
Nice one...trying to do more SFIC's in 2020 and Yales and some more Brinks. After that no clue.
I've never actually picked an SFIC, that should be my goal too. Thanks for watching.
Nice shout out😎👍 I just subed him the other day. Congrats on the little one. 👍
Thanks Chaz!
Please get in touch with me, need address. Thank you brother
Congatulations on the new job, and kid on the way! I had no idea you had your own channel, I would have been watching sooner. I have been picking a bit myself, just starting, but its definitely growing on me.
Thanks! I've been picking locks for a lot longer than I've been into knives and EDC. I'm not posting as many videos as I used to, but I'm hoping to get back into it.
@@CameronDunn I look forward to it. I definitely learn new stuff all the time watching picking videos. I have a really basic set, but can still get into most Masterlocks. I just grabbed an electric toothbrush to try making a picking gun (if it's called that?) out of it.
I've been picking for almost four years now, I've bought dozens of picks but often end up going back to the same ones. The lock doesn't care what you open it with, an open is an open.
Congrats...hope all goes well.
long time no see!!
It's definitely been a while!
Congrats all round mate ❤️✌🏻
Thanks for providing the set, it's amazing!
What an awesome set to win. Congratulations matey. Good luck in your new job hope all goes well. I understand the busyness of preparing for a new addition to the family. Good to see your video, take care, cheers
